Boil Water Notice is now lifted.
On 1/19/2026 @ 1:30 pm, Amity's city wide boil water notice is now lifted. Bacteriological analysis of samples collected January 18th after system pressure had been restored confirms that Amity's drinking water is free from coliform bacteria and is safe to drink.
Amity Issues Boil Water Notice
The City's water treatment plant is continuing to produce water, but demand has outpaced our production capacity. Amity Public Works is doing what they can to increase production.
Oregon Health Authority rules require a Boil Water Notice be issued as a precautionary measure if system pressure is lost. On the afternoon of Sunday, 1/18, the City received several reports that water pressure had been lost in the outlying areas of the City's system, and reports of low pressure throughout the City. As a result, we are issuing a Boil Water Notice at this time. Once pressure has been restored, Public Works will sample our water to ensure that it is safe to drink. Thank you for your patience and assistance.

Boil Your Water Before Using
Due to loss of water pressure in the distribution system on 1/18/2026, potentially harmful bacteria could be present in the water supply. If these bacteria are present, they could make you sick and are a particular concern for people with weakened immune systems. The entire City of Amity distribution system is affected.
Do not drink the water without boiling it first.
Customers should bring water to a rolling boil for 1 full minute, allow the water to cool before using, and store the cooled water in a clean container with a cover. Customers should use boiled water that has cooled or bottled water for:
• Drinking
• Brushing teeth
• Washing fruits and vegetables
• Preparing food and baby formula
• Making ice
• Cleaning food contact surfaces
Pumps are back online, and water pressure should soon return to normal. We will inform you when tests show no bacteria, and you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 24-48 hours.
This boil water advisory is a precaution. To limit risk to health, customers should follow the instructions contained in this advisory.
